Here is the leaflet for Pamela Wood and I. We are standing for Leek East in the upcoming by-election on July 20th. We are both founding members of the #saveleekhospital Action Group. We are both independent and are not constrained by party politics. We are not standing for a political parties agenda, we are standing just for Leek. We both feel that at a local level, that an independent has the interests of you at heart. Pamela is already on the district council for Leek East and has done stirling work and is excited at the prospect of having me by her side, having proved myself over the last few months with SLH and also the general election. Pamela is now standing for town council as well and we would both love you to vote for us and get YOUR VOICE back at a local level. #fromleekforleek #fromthemoorlandsforthemoorlands #votepamelawood #votenicksheldon

It has been a very emotional journey and we have learnt so much in just a short space of time (4 weeks).
We have folded and hand delivered 25,000 letters, walked over a hundred miles, put up 14 banners and spoke hundreds of times on the tannoy through the Staffordshire Moorlands.
I attended my first hustings, which i loved doing, did four radio interviews, recorded a party political broadcast, registered and created a new website. And the main thing we did was talk and listen to you, the people of the Staffordshire Moorlands and ultimately raise the profile of #saveleekhospital . Our campaign was very clean and very positive. We have made new friends and allies on the way.

Tonight I attended the only hustings that has been organised before the election. It was held at Trinity Church on Derby Street and was attended by 4 out of 5 candidates. The candid ate that didn’t turn up was our elected Cabinet Minister MP ‘Karen Bradley’. Her absenteeism was duly noted, but she had sent formulated answers to the pre-determined questions , that ‘as usual’ didn’t answer the said question. The event was superbly organised and the candidates and the audience were fantastic. Everybody behaved with decorum and mutual respect.
As many of you know, this was my first foray in to the ‘hustings’ and I was indeed very nervous and sick to the stomach before the event as I did not know what to expect.
I answered the questions as ‘me’, with honesty, and integrity, and I believe that shone through. In this day and age of politics and with all the ‘misinformation’ I think people want to connect and resonate with someone local who has THEIR interests at heart. I am that person, and I state now that if I win this election I will give more as much effort in listening to you the people of the Moorlands and I will take your questions and pleas to Westminster and I will act on what you want that will benefit you in the the Moorlands.
Like I said earlier, the biggest single issue in the Moorlands right now is that we do NOT have a voice. I aim to change that and be the voice of the Moorlands. Thank you x

Our Single Issue Party Political Broadcast
Dear Elector,
My name is Nick Sheldon and I’m standing as an Independent Single Issue Candidate, in the forthcoming General Election.
Most people in the Moorlands will know by now, that hospital beds have been closed at Cheadle and Bradwell and that the beds at Leek Moorlands Hospital are under imminent threat of closure.
The Save Leek Hospital Group of which I am a part of, has been running a highly public and well supported campaign in a bid to stop the closure of Leek Moorlands Hospital.
Being a part of this has made me realise that OUR voices and OUR concerns are seldom, if ever, even heard, let alone, given the attention that WE in the Moorlands deserve.
With this in mind, I have decided that the Moorlands needs a truly independent voice, one that will fight for our concerns, fight for our hospitals and fight for our communities. Not constrained by Party Politics, but for US, the people who live and work in the Moorlands.
So, I’m asking you to vote for me, on June 8th in the 2017 General Election.
I promise to address all of the issues WE in the Moorlands face, not just health, but education, transport systems, social concerns, Brexit and our local economy.
I will put pressure on whoever is in power to make sure OUR voices are heard.
I can do this, because I’m not constrained by party ties.
Of course, at the moment my main focus is on the continuing struggle to keep our community hospital beds and the hospitals themselves, but if elected I promise to do my best for the place where I was born and bred – The Staffordshire Moorlands.
If you need help with transportation to the polling station please phone 07540 419817.
Nick Sheldon. (Independent Single Issue Candidate)
